Watec Manual Gain Control (MGC) Adjustment Knob
The Watec 902H camera series has an adjustable Manual Gain Control (MGC). However it takes a small screwdriver and its hard to reach, especially during the few prior moments of an occultation. With widely varying sky transparency and star brightness, adjustments of the Watec 902H gain is necessary from occultation to occultation.
Here's a simple solution to adjust the camera's gain by adding a nylon adjustment knob. Thus the gain adjustment is done by turning a nylon knob with your fingers.
Your local hardware store will have nylon screws and nuts as shown below. Simply screw the two together and cement the combination to the MGC knob on the camera. I recommend the epoxy J-B Weld for cementing the screw's head to the MGC knob as it is very strong, cheap (US $6) and easy to use. The head of the screw will have to be filed down to fit.
